My start-up estimation was turned down by the chair. Obviously I didn't ask for enough money. She was nice enough on the phone, but I can hear the second voice: "You need to ask for more!!!" She tripled what I asked for and let me revise the list again.
What was I thinking? I need to get out of the graduate student mindset and think like a PROF.
